Newport Academy is a gender-specific, comprehensive treatment program for adolescent teens, ages 12 to 18, suffering from mental health, co-occurring disorders, and substance abuse The program combines key elements essential in effectively treating adolescent girls and boys with dual diagnosis related problems As compared with adults, adolescents have higher rates of dual diagnosis and developmental differences At Newport Academy, we deliver a highly individualized, holistic approach to treatment where psychological, biological, spiritual, social and educational needs are continually assessed and revised throughout the treatment process With over 40 clinicians to treat 12 residents, Newport Academy provides a highly structured and intensive program necessary for teens to recognize their own denial systems and develop the skills necessary to achieve long lasting recovery Each resident receives on average over 36 hours of individual, group and family therapy every week Average length of stay is two months and is determined by severity of symptom profile, global assessment of functioning completed upon intake, and progress throughout the treatment process A gender-specific environment invites adolescent teens to build strong peer support which is essential in the treatment process Newport Academy's intensive program has over 40 clinicians to treat 12 residents
