In less than a month, it will mark one year since everything changed. In March of 2020, schools all over the nation transitioned from in person to distance learning. Last year, school didn't seem so bad when distance learning began. Although I missed being at school and seeing my friends, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. At least I didn't have to sit on zooms all day long. However, this year has been very hard for me and many people that I know. Sitting on zoom calls from 7 am to 2:30 pm has been extremely draining. Along with long days of zooms, I have additional work that I have to complete on my computer. I wish teachers would lessen our homework to allow us to get a break from our screens. Luckily, I have a few teachers that understand how hard it is on us and have done their very best to make distance learning easier on students by having very short zooms or giving little asynchronous work. It has been very hard for many, including myself, to learn over zooms. For example, I am struggling to understand the concepts I am learning in math. During this time, I have found that it is very important to take time out of my day to do something for mental health. For me, I make sure to step away from my computer for some time. I have found that baking and cooking has really been beneficial.
